Description

Growing up to three feet tall, Clary Sage is a drought-tolerant biennial that makes a great addition to gardens and pathways. Its name comes from the Latin word ‘claurus’ meaning ‘clear’. Its also called Clear Eye as the seeds were once used to reduce eye inflammation. As a culinary herb, you can enjoy its leaves in salads; or use the tops in soups, jellies and omelets for a sweet fragrant flavor. Clary Sage is medicinal as well, boasting anti-bacterial, antispasmodic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, astringent, carminative, digestive and vulnerary properties. Infuse a teaspoon of dried Clary Sage leaves and flowers per cup of water and take after meals as a digestive, liver protector and for colds and cough.
