Description
Common Speedwell makes beautiful cut flowers and attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds! This perennial in the Plantaginaceae family is a great addition to your medicinal herb garden. Infusion is useful for coughs and catarrh. As a lotion, Speedwell is effective on skin eruptions and slow-healing wounds. In Balkan traditional medicine, Veronica officinalis is used for treating liver, eczema, ulceration, snake bites, wound healing, and skin lesions. Therapeutic properties: alterative, astringent, mildly diuretic, mildly expectorant, stomachic and tonic. Harvest Speedwell leaves in the summer and dry for later use in tea.
