Description
Calendula, or Pot Marigold, is a annual flowering herb in the Asteraceae family. A popular plant for herbalists and home gardeners, Calendula has daisy-like flowers packed with vitamins and potent medicinal benefits. Its healing and astringent action are sufficient to make it an effective stop bleed. It reduces inflammation, shortens healing time, combats fungal and infections of the skin. Use as mouthwash for gum disease, sore throat, and gingivitis. Calendula also helps liver function by encouraging bile production, improves circulation and works as a ‘lymphatic’ remedy, applied in conditions of swollen lymph glands, especially in the upper body. Also, dry the petals and add to soups, and cakes or make an edible dye that works as a saffron substitute. Download our Calendula PDF Reference sheet.
