Description

‘Empress Of India’ Nasturtium boasts an edible crimson/purple flower often used as a garnish or decoration in salads, soups, and other dishes. The flower is a rich source of vitamins A, C, and E, as well as iron, calcium, and magnesium. Nasturtium combined with other herbs helps treat urinary tract infections, swollen airways, cough, and bronchitis. Easy to grow Nasturtium makes a great companion plant. Plant with cucumbers and tomatoes to help repel cucumber beetles, white-flies, aphids, and squash bugs. Planting near eggplant or squash plants can help repel cucumber beetles. While Nasturtiums are annual in North Georgia, they self-seed freely so you may have volunteer plants return when the soil warms in spring. They also make great container plants and thrive in hanging baskets.
