Description

St John’s Wort is a wound-healer and calming tonic that has been used medicinally since ancient times. Recent new evidence speaks to its efficacy for mild to moderate depression, chronic fatigue and anxiety. The St Johns Wort plant is a member of the Hypericaceae family; its flowers and leaves are analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aromatic, astringent, cholagogue, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, nervine, resolvent, sedative, stimulant, vermifuge and vulnerary. Hypericum also supports women through menopause. Collect flowers in summer and fill a glass jar with flowers and olive oil, then leave in the sun to form a red pigment that acts as a remedy for minor scalds and burns.
